So I’m a drugstore addict. We’ve established that by now, I’m pretty sure. But sometimes, SOME times, I just couldn’t help but notice the hate… I know the drugstore has the tendency to ‘be inspired’ by the big guys at Sephora and all that, but you know what? I think they do pretty well for us, the non-$80-for-a-palette type of girls. I mean, who’s with me?
I personally am not crazy about palettes. Again, probably because the drugstore doesn’t have that many good quality palettes either. I’m also just not a heavy, hard core eye-shadow type of person too. I don’t do full glammed up eye looks and I don’t think I need to, so I just keep a couple of high end eyeshadow palettes and a few drugstore ones to mix things up.
There are some palettes that I own that are known for being drugstore dupes of high end palettes eyeshadow palettes, including my Coastal Scents Revealed 2 palette (dupe for Naked 3), Make Up Revolution I Heart Chocolate (dupe for Urban Decay Chocolate Bar) and Make Up Revolution I Heart Pink Fizz (can’t remember which dupe this was for but I solely got it because of the cute packaging and sure enough, I don’t even use it at all now).
I mean, they’re okay. The Revealed 2 palette in particular is one that I actually reach to a lot. For the price tag that it comes with, why not? It has a good colour pay off and it stays on my eyelids the whole day. And again, I personally don’t see any justification for me to buy an $80 palette (a Naked palette is about $80 here in Singapore) since I won’t use it that much any way.
I think drugstore dupes are great options for those that aren’t willing to spend the bucks on high end dupes. Plus, I think some of them are actually pretty good. So I really don’t see the need for all the hate… Sure, they can be a little bit more creative with packaging and coming up with their own concept. But hey, what do you expect out of a $20 palette anyway?
So, yay or nay? Are you for or against drugstore dupes of high end palettes?
